SC Steel Show Workshop Is Almost Here!

Post by Brian Christiano »

The workshop for Mike Sweeney's steel guitar set on Saturday, 18 May is just about a week away.

We have about 6 participants signed up and paid, including me.
Remember, it's an additional $10 at the door for walk-ins.

Pre registration helps us plan a more effective workshop setup. Mike does a great job.

Note: you MUST have a preamp or amp with headphone jack and headphones to use with your steel at the workshop; no exceptions. As you can imagine, having several players playing all at once would severely detract from the class and learning environment.

We still have room so sign up soon. You can use PayPal or most of the regular aps. Contact Mike directly or you can contact me.

Almost time! I just want to remind everyone, we will start at 11:00, please get there in time to set up.
We will have 2 hours devoted to a couple pages of tab I have written, and one hour devoted to questions and answers. So if you think of something, write it down.
Have a way of playing through headphones.
Bring a music stand, notebook and pencil. I'm encouraging all to bring a way to video or audio record the class.
I will also be offering a special deal to all attendees of the seminar for my tutorial downloads. Just ask me or Teresa at the show.
I'm looking forward to seeing everyone this weekend.

SC Steel Show Update

We had a great show! I am leased with the results.

Mike Sweeney facilitated an impressive workshop with 7 attendees. Mike always does a great job and introduces the more advanced techniques most of us don't think of, but were developed by the masters of the instrument, like Buddy Emmons, Hal Rugg, John 'Pappa' Huey, and others.

The players were:
Gary Hart (Belton, SC)
Bill Nicholson (Fair Play, SC)
Gary Catlin (Fairmount, MD)
Roger Crawford (Griffin, GA)
Mike Taylor (Wetumpka, AL)
Mike Sweeney (Nashville)
Brian Christiano (Columbia, SC)

Our local TV stations, WIS10 TV and WLTX19 TV showed up and did a piece for the 11 PM news on Sunday. Here is the link to the WISTV show:
https://l.facebook.com/l.php?u=https%3A ... FBVTlpPClQ

We're looking forward to our November show, (date to be determined)
